Blood Elf Engineer - Blizzard Student Art Contest 2013 Character

Gonna lock down and hurt myself through this Blizzard Art Contest during the duration of my Winter Break before I get back to work on Core Overload.

[EDIT: Massive idea shift] My idea is just doing a NPC Blood Elf Engineer who relies on reappropriating arcane/fel/etc magic to power equipment (guns, cannon, etc) due to a lack of aptitude with magic. Specifically, this Blood Elf is adventuring in Pandaria.

Max 6000 triangles
1024 Diffuse texture

Intended WorkFlow
Concept > Rough sculpt Zbrush > Retopo and create base sculpt mesh > Sculpt High Poly > Retopologize for Final Mesh > UV/Texture

Progress on the rough sculpt. Not entirely sure if I'm doig this right, but the next step after completion would be to retopologize for a cleaner high poly. Or straight into low poly if I lose time.

Bunny short sculpt

A sketch I had in my sketchbook that I brought in to sculpt. 2 days, but few hours on each day.

ZBrush's Sculpey material.

From Grasping Clutches WIP 37

Asking for critiques!

Personally, in my head, I feel like the monster is still lacking in rendering stuff, and that the piece needs more orange, and that I royally effed up the colors in the bottom of the canvas. But that's just what I c.

Hit me hard.

So, I did this as one of the attached header images that went to QA regarding Overtime information for one of the nights, during my time as a QA intern. Made some drastic changes (there was the Diablo head in the back I pulled fro promotional iamges), and minimized the number of things in the painting.

Now that Diablo III has shipped, this should be fine to post here.

CTAN ZBrush class Assignment 1

The program feels really good.  Besides a lot of User Interface kinks, I like it!  And works really smooth most of the time.

My next question would be about how to do multiple components at once in the program, like an armored warrior for example.

‎"The Stallion who will mount the World"

Took me a bit to warm up, but started getting in a flow an hour in.

Speedpainting tonight
Speed Painting.  Been a while since I've done one, but this feels a lot better.  3 hours, but I felt like I had more flow, more willing to scrap thumbs, etc.

(A Sartorialst reference sketch)

I don't know what else I can do right now, but I'm praying this might help. Please share this link if you think it's appropriate.
7/27/2012, approximately 9:00 pm @ the West LA Transit Center (Fairfax and Washington) I was sitting on one of the bus benches, waiting for my particular Metro bus, coming back from my internship at the wonderful Reverge Labs LLC. Had my Intuos4 Tablet in a cardboard slip, and my Blizzard Entertainment Messenger bag on the floor right next to my feet. I was sketching away, most of my vision concentrating on drawing, until three early 20, late highschool black males walked past while also reaching down to grab my bag away. They started booking it up north on Fairfax avenue, I tried to give chase all the way to Apple, but I knew I wouldn't catch up since they had the surprise on their side. Called in 911, they took a report, and they'll do what they can, understandably, but that was at around 9:40 pm. From what I can remember, the person with the bag was in a maroon sweater, black hair, shortly cropped (not a buzz cut), and one of his other two friends had short dreadlocks and a dark navy blue jacket that night. Exclaimed something like "Hey man, why are you chasing me? I didn't take your bag." All of them fairly athletic build, like any decent track athlete or b-ball player. Besides that, no names, nothing. It all happened so fast, and I can't remember any particular facial features, etc.
This is going to be a long shot, and I don't know if the contents of the bag or the bag will end up on ebay or craiglist, or somewhere else anytime soon, but if anyone knows about where the stolen property might be, I'd be incredibly grateful.
Black Cloth Messenger Bag with "Blizzard Entertainment 2011 Summer Intern" woven on the front flap. One of the mementos of part of my career dreams, so it holds some importance to the child inside me.
== Contents include ==
-a black Micro B USB cable (Wacom), Intuos4 Grip Pen, Intuos4 Pen Well, Intuos4 Tablet Mouse
-blue pencil case with nondescript pencils, pens, etc in it. Rounded off corners, broken zipper seal, and a fake carbon fiber weave texture
-a black USB thumbdrive, forgot the brand/make & gig size, but on the top it has a liquid crystal display showing Storage Size in 20% increments. Has a black cap.
That's about it. All in all, a loss of around $300 I would suspect (the bag is irreplaceable since they're not sold). My tablet's fine, but without the pen, USB cable, etc, I can't really help make games, do art for games, or maintain a livelihood in that sense. That and it was a gift from my already sacrificial-loving parents, and to all the other digital artists out there, you know how the tablets are priced. The Blizzard bag is and was a memento of a childhood dream half fulfilled when I had the opportunity to do Game Testing over there as a Freshman last year.
If ANYONE know where the stolen property might be and if they can get them back to me, I'd be grateful for your assistance and if the robbers are reading this, may I humbly ask that I just please get everything back? It's hard to lose stuff that has a lot to do with dreams. Trying my best to forgive you guys, and it's not easy on my heart.
EDIT: I guess as a clear picture, if you do see the bag and/or persons. --> Call the cops immediately and give locations, descriptions, general direction of movement. Take pictures if you can, video, even if low fidelity.
Thank you for your time, and I understand that I failed to be smart in an urban environment.
In good and bad, palma ut Deus

Dear God:

Please help me finish this.

Your wretched creature.

Updated WIP.

I think this is more or less the final composition.

Need to fix things and go from there.

Had fun with 3Dcoat voxel sculpting these past couple of days.

Difficult it was, though.

Massive lighting overhaul thanks to Shannon Berke.

2 hours, from photo.

Internship's slow.  We're not in full production yet, so that might be it.  Though, periods of lacking work to do feel incredibly weird.  That and no set hours to speak of.

This thing is torturing me.

"From Grasping Clutches WIP 20"

Reverge Labs LLC Internship started today.

So I managed to clean up whatever issues I had with the UVs, etc. Smoothed out the nose geometry, and now have dumped it into one of the generic UDK default scenes.

I'm not sure what to do right now to make a proper in-game render of this in UDK from here, and I'm an absolute noob to the editor. The whole intention for the model was to be placed in a cartoon-ish render, so I don't know how to go about that so I can get this into a comp. board for a portfolio thing. If anyone can help, thank you!

Internship at Reverge Labs began today.  Awkward for me, first day jitters and all.  Though I suspect it will snowball quickly into awesomeness and crunch, God-willing.

AND one more image.  Quick maybe like two day thing, this one.

Stuff I've been working on for either Spring Semester 2012 (Tales From the Minus Lab) and in the meanwhile

Sorry for not posting in a while, lots of things been happening, so it's been hard to keep updating my sketchbooks.  I'm still in the process of scanning my physical sketchbook, so those posts should come soon during the summer.

From Grasping Clutches WIP

I feel terrible about doing this, but I'm determined to complete a decent female protagonist illusrtation.

That and I love Blizzard art so much -__-

So, this is a WIP of a Demon Hunter piece set in a desert, where she's jumping away from what seems to

be a cobbled sand monster.

AND I was able to get all of the Minus Labs Shelves in (sans potentially problematic gears) into the Shelfland scene!
